ACT SKILLED MIGRATION

Canberra Matrix Australia

Understand how the Canberra Matrix generally works for ACT 190 and 491 nomination, including points categories, eligibility, ranking, evidence and invitation stages.

WHY IT MATTERS

Understanding The Canberra Matrix Australia

The Canberra Matrix is a score-based system used by the ACT Government for skilled migration nomination. Applicants can claim points based on factors such as ACT residence, employment, English, qualifications, ACT study, occupation and other relevant circumstances.

This ranking system is used for both ACT 190 and ACT 491 nomination pathways. AMC GLOBLE provides general guidance to help you understand the process, ranking factors and evidence requirements. A high score does not guarantee an invitation, as selection depends on available places, occupation demand and ranking.

NOMINATION OPTIONS

Canberra Matrix For ACT 190 And 491 Nomination

The Canberra Matrix can be completed for both ACT 190 and ACT 491 nomination. Although both pathways use the Matrix, their eligibility requirements and nomination conditions can differ.

ACT 190

Skilled Nominated pathway

The ACT Skilled Nominated visa pathway is a permanent skilled migration option. Applicants must meet the relevant Department of Home Affairs and ACT nomination criteria before registering their interest through the Matrix.

ACT 491

Skilled Regional pathway

The ACT Skilled Work Regional pathway is a provisional skilled migration option. ACT nomination requires applicants to meet the relevant eligibility criteria and generally involves a commitment to live and work in Canberra under the applicable conditions.

The Matrix should therefore be considered alongside the specific nomination criteria for the pathway you are interested in.

Invitation Is Not Guaranteed

Meeting the eligibility criteria or achieving a particular Matrix score does not guarantee an invitation. ACT selection depends on ranking, occupation demand, available nomination places and other current selection factors. The ACT states that invitation cut-offs depend on factors including demand, available places and the number of invitations being issued.

Canberra Matrix Evidence And Common Mistakes To Avoid

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Canberra Matrix Australia FAQs

Below are some common questions about the Canberra Matrix, ACT nomination and the general factors that may affect ranking. Requirements can change, so applicants should always check the latest ACT Government information.

The Matrix is a score-based system used by the ACT Government to manage expressions of interest for ACT skilled migration nomination. Applicants claim points against relevant categories and eligible Matrices are ranked for invitation consideration.

The Matrix is used for both ACT 190 nomination and ACT 491 nomination, subject to the applicable eligibility criteria for each pathway.

Depending on the applicant pathway, factors may include ACT residence, employment, English proficiency, nominated occupation, qualifications, ACT study, partner factors, family connections and eligible investment or business factors.

No. A high score does not guarantee an invitation. ACT selection depends on factors such as ranking, occupation demand, available nomination places and current invitation arrangements.

Yes. The ACT has separate Matrix arrangements for Canberra residents and overseas applicants. The eligibility requirements and points categories can differ between the two groups.

The ACT currently allows applicants to update or withdraw the Matrix before an invitation is issued. An updated Matrix replaces the previous submission and is treated as a new Matrix for ranking purposes.

The Matrix generally lapses after six months if no invitation is issued and no update is made. An update can extend validity, subject to the current ACT rules and maximum validity period.
