Nomination by the State of New South Wales in the category 491 stream
Candidates seeking the Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa must first express their interest in the Subclass 491 state nomination (Subclass 491).
The Registration of Interest (ROI) process is not always open; applicants are allowed to express their interest at FOUR submission periods during the fiscal year.
The first application window closed in August, and the next THREE submission windows will open in October 2021, January 2022, and March 2022, during which applicants can submit an online form for consideration as a state nominee.
Migrants who live and work in regional NSW will be given preference.
In the submission timeframe, candidates can only submit one ROI. If the candidates are not invited, they must submit a fresh ROI for consideration in the next submission window.
Stream 1: Working and living in remote New South Wales
To be eligible for NSW nomination under this stream, you must have a valid skills assessment for an occupation on your nominated region’s occupation list; you must have lived in a designated regional area in NSW for at least the previous 12 months and you must have worked in your nominated occupation, or a closely related occupation, in a designated regional area of NSW for at least the previous 12 months.
Stream 2: A research that was just performed in remote NSW
To be eligible for NSW nomination under this stream, you must have a valid skills assessment for an occupation listed on your nominated region’s occupation list
- a valid skills assessment for an occupation listed on your nominated region’s occupation list; and a valid skills assessment for an occupation listed on your nominated region’s occupation list.
have completed a study or education with an education provider where: the study was completed within the previous 24 months; the education provider is located in a designated regional area in NSW - the study meets the Australian study requirement (as determined by Home Affairs from time to time), and the qualification obtained from this study has been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as closely related to your nominated occupation
- lived in a designated regional area in NSW.
Stream 3- I have a talent for a job that is needed in regional NSW.
- hold a valid skills assessment for an occupation on the occupation list for your specified region
- Be a resident of an Australian state or territory at the time of application.
